My husband and I have stayed here several times. The owners are very nice. I love antiques so these rooms are a treat for me. One thing to appreciate about antiques is that they are not "new, out of the box" like today's furniture. They have wear & tear which is part of their story and charm. They also are made of far better materials than today's furniture, such as solid wood and real marble. The rooms are comfortable; all are suites. Some of the mattresses are better than others, but if I have a problem, my husband and I manage to make to make it work or we ask for a change in our room. This was once a large, grand, single family home with servants' quarters which has been broken up into several bedroom suites to make it a B&B. The layout can be a little quirky wherever this happens. One needs to expect that and go with the flow. If these sorts of conditions are not your "thing" then please stay at a chain motel/hotel which has standard furnishings, etc., where you know what to expect, and skip the B&B's.
old timey home, lots of space and good access to the town and such
Staying here was perfect for what my husband and I needed for his birthday weekend. Took a tour of wineries and went to the Crossroads Market. I made a reservation at Brazills on Main Street...the food and service was amazing. Shared a lovely bottle of wine on the patio afterwards. We were looking forward to a relaxing weekend and the Candlelight Lodge certainly fit the bill. We loved it. Wilma was very gracious and accommodating. We enjoyed chatting with her. I opted for the Oak Room which was upstairs and that was fine for us.The room was clean and comfortable and I enjoyed the layout of the house. There were other guests at the lodge but we never saw them. My husband and I are early risers and we were able to have a relaxing time drinking coffee out on the lovely wrought-iron patio in the morning. No breakfast on the premises was not a big deal we had a delicious breakfast at Jack's in Barcelona and walked along the beach afterwards looking for beach glass.I don't care about what other reviews say we had an enjoyable time, it was perfect for what we needed and we will definitely be back to stay.
Beautiful 100th historical bed an breakfast ...I'd stay here anytime .an owner Wilma reed is a great woman...if u love antiques an quiet .this is for u ...I had whole house to myself as I stayed off season too....
Location was great, close to everywhere we wanted to go, but that's the best thing I can say about it. If you have a thing for antiques then this is the place for you. Otherwise skip this one. It was poorly maintained: cobwebs on the floors and ceilings, broken and stained furniture, terrible smell. In addition, you don't get breakfast (which after staying there, I probably wouldn't want to eat there anyway). Instead, you get a $6 voucher to one of the local diners. I expected much more and was very dissatisfied.
